Current Role and Responsibilities: I interview & assess candidates for a place on our Training Academy (TA), and then support/advice and guide them through the ‘three’ stage process of the TA, which encompasses E-learning, face to face training and lastly practical ‘hands on’ shadowing. Thus, provide in-depth, robust training to facilitate unique learning needs, and to equip candidates with skills and knowledge, to further awareness and understanding, in order for them to become competent, confident and highly skilled, qualified Healthcare Assistants (HCA).

I love what I do, and am a passionate person, who believes in accessible communication, social inclusion, equality and equity, choice and independence to champion, advocate and empower people, and their unique needs. I am ardent about training and education, as these are vital to maintain and achieve best practice: quality care and support, ensure we are fit to practice, and are underpinned through legislation, standards and regulations.

Professional Background

Brief Professional Summary: I have worked in the Health and Social Care industry for over 30 years: starting as a HCA, and then working/studying to become a RNLD (Registered Nurse specialising in Learning Disabilities), and then latterly becoming a Registered Care Home Manager, and then a Registered Service Manager. My attained experience has been over a plethora of disciplines: Elderly, Mental Health, ABI, Dementia, Children and young people, PMLD, EBD and End-of-life, in an array of Services: Schools, Care Homes, Hospices, Hospitals, Resource Centres, Domicilliary, Supported Living, Short-Breaks and Respite Services.

I enjoy time out and love to read and swim. My family and friends are important to me, and I see them regularly, whether to eat, go on holiday, or just grab a coffee and a chat!
